New AHIA Resource: AHIA/AusHFG Educational Video Series

Date published 22/09/2025

We are pleased to announce that a new series of AHIA/AusHFG educational videos is now available on the AusHFG website.

These videos are designed to inform and support communication about the AusHFG and AHIA, including the processes involved in reviewing and developing the resources, as well as their application in healthcare projects.

This is a three-part video series, that includes:

Video 1 - What are the AusHFG?
This video provides an overview of the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines (AusHFG), the role of the Australasian Health Infrastructure Alliance (AHIA), noting AHIA's focus on ensuring optimal value for health infrastructure investments. The video outlines the structure of the AusHFG, including the overarching Parts, Health Planning Units (HPU), Standard Components, other resources and supporting tools that promote the delivery of fit for purpose, efficient, safe, and adaptable healthcare infrastructure for current and future needs.

Video 2 - How are the AusHFG developed?
This video explains how the AusHFG are developed through a rigorous and collaborative review process. Each resource is updated every five years, or sooner if needed, through a review of evidence and analysis, expert consultation, and endorsement by all nine jurisdictions. The entire process is supported by consultants in architecture, engineering, building codes, accessibility, ICT, acoustics, and quantity surveying. Feedback from project teams and industry members is also encouraged via the AusHFG website.

Video 3 - How are the AusHFG applied to projects?
This video explains how the AusHFG are applied to health projects in Australia and New Zealand. The video highlights the importance of stakeholder engagement, jurisdictional policies, and consideration of opportunities for innovation. It also outlines the importance of AusHFG variation processes to ensure a thorough analysis of proposed impacts to service delivery, safety, cost and other criteria and to support future updates to the AusHFG.

We would like to acknowledge Atom Media Pty Ltd for their contribution, as well as all the individuals and stakeholders who contributed to the development of this resource.

Kind Regards,
AusHFG Team
