Content Update: Standard Components for Inpatient Accommodation

Following extensive consultation with clinical and technical experts, as well as consumers, the Inpatient Accommodation Standard Components have been updated. 

The Standard Components have been rationalised to reduce duplication of information: 

  • There are no longer three different types of Standard Components for 1 Bed Rooms with inboard ensuites. Two different types have been updated; the “Type 1” layout indicates the bedhead on the wall opposite to the ensuite, while the “Type 2” room indicates the bedhead on the wall adjacent to the ensuite.
  • The Standard Components for the alternatives/types of inboard and outboard ensuites have been retired; one ensuite layout has been developed that can be applied in either configuration.

The three Standard Components for 1 Bed Rooms with outboard ensuites have been retired. These Standard Components showed a layout that had the ensuite extending beyond the bedroom and would result in an undulating façade.  This arrangement is not commonly utilised and has therefore been retired.

Changes to nomenclature for Standard Component names have been introduced to improve clarity:

  • “Back-to-back” ensuites are now referred to as “Nested” ensuites
  • “Special” bedrooms are now referred to as “Carer Overnight” bedrooms
  • “Special” ensuites are now referred to as “High Assistance” ensuites.

The updated and newly developed Standard Components include:

  • 1BR-ST-IN1    1 Bed Room - Inboard Ensuite, Type 1 – Updated (previously 1BR-ST-A1)
  • 1BR-ST-IN2    1 Bed Room - Inboard Ensuite, Type 2 – Updated (previously 1BR-ST-A2)
  • 1BR-ST-NE     1 Bed Room - Nested Ensuite – Updated (previously 1BR-ST-D)
  • 1BR-CO-OU1  1 Bed Room - Carer Overnight, Outboard Ensuite, Type 1 – New; replaces 1 Bed Room - Special
  • 1BR-CO-OU2  1 Bed Room - Carer Overnight, Outboard Ensuite, Type 2 – New; replaces 1 Bed Room - Special
  • 1BR-BAR        1 Bed Room - Bariatric – Updated (previously 1BR-BA)
  • 1BR-ISO-N      1 Bed Room - Isolation - Negative Pressure – Updated (previously 1BR-IS-N2)
  • 2BR-IN             2 Bed Room - Inboard Ensuite – Updated (previously 2BR-ST-A2)
  • 4BR-IN             4 Bed Room - Inboard Ensuites – Updated (previously 4BR-ST)
  • ENS-IN-OU       Ensuite - Inboard / Outboard – New; replaces various inboard and outboard ensuite layouts
  • ENS-NE            Ensuite - Nested – Updated (previously ENS-ST-C)
  • ENS-HA            Ensuite - High Assistance – New; replaces Ensuite - Special, 6m2
  • ENS-BAR         Ensuite - Bariatric – Updated (previously ENS-BA)
  • ENS-ACC         Ensuite - Accessible – Updated
  • ANTE                Anteroom - Updated (previously ANRM).

The following Standard Components have been retired: 

  • 1BR-ST-A3     1 Bed Room - Inboard Ensuite, Type
  • 1BR-ST-B1     1 Bed Room - Outboard Ensuite, Type 1
  • 1BR-ST-B2     1 Bed Room - Outboard Ensuite, Type
  • 1BR-ST-B3     1 Bed Room - Outboard Ensuite, Type 3
  • 1BR-IS-N1      1 Bed Room - Isolation - Negative Pressure, Type 1
  • 1BR-SP-A1     1 Bed Room - Special, Inboard Ensuite, Type 1
  • 1BR-SP-A2     1 Bed Room - Special, Inboard Ensuite, Type 2
  • 2BR-ST-A1     2 Bed Room - Inboard Ensuite, Type 1
  • 2BR-ST-B       2 Bed Room - Outboard Ensuite
  • ENS-ST-A1     Ensuite - Inboard - Alternative 1, 5m2
  • ENS-ST-A2     Ensuite - Inboard - Alternative 2, 5m2
  • ENS-ST-A3     Ensuite - Inboard - Alternative 3, 5m2

Updates to the above Standard Components are also reflected in the following updated Project Resources: 

  • Standard Component Document Register
  • Standard Component File for Import (to database or BIM platforms)
  • Item Control Schedule (version 2.5).

Note: due to changes to the Room Data Sheet (RDS) content and format, the File for Import has been provided as two separate files. One file provides the information for the Standard Components that are still published in the old RDS format with the 1.11 codes, while the other provides information for the Standard Components that are now published in the new RDS format with the 2.5 codes. This will be updated progressively as Standard Components are reviewed and re-published until all Standard Components are provided in the new format.

Due to a model update that is in progress, an updated version of the AusHFG Revit Model cannot be provided at this time.
The following Resources do NOT yet reflect the above changes to the Standard Components:

  • AusHFG Revit Model (and Shared Parameters file)
  • AusHFG IFC Model.
